After excellent morning scores, Beverley & ER led by 5 shots with a total of 283, (David Norton 71, David Jackson 71, Mike Helyard 71 and Rich Norton 70) from Scarborough North Cliff on 288, (Steve Pybus 71, Simon Boddy 72, Steve Monaghan 75 and Dave Raybould 70). In the afternoon the battle continued and with both teams being paired together things became very interesting. At one point Simon Boddy pulled back most of the deficit but this was immediately restored by a 69 from Mike Helyard. Dave Raybould closed with a battling 72 to complete Scarborough North Cliff’s total of 577. Ian Stephenson (Ganton) won the East Riding Union Seniors Championship at Scarborough South Cliff Golf Club after tying with playing partner David Liversedge (Hessle) on 76. Following a tied 3 hole playoff Ian eventually won in sudden death at the fourth playoff hole.
