Trophies
The H. W. Collins Trophy(Amateur Championship)
Presented to the Union in 1948 by H. W. Collins (Hull Golf Club) the Union’s first team Captain.
The Needler Trophy(Open Championship)
Although the first Open Championship took place in 1967 the trophy was first presented in 1969. It was purchased from the kind sponsorship of the Hull based Needler group of companies and partly from Union funds. It bears the name G. T. Rignall the man responsible for its conception.
The George Ash Salver
This was presented by the Union in recognition of the achievements of George Ash (Beverley & E.R. Golf Club). President 1960, County Champion 1960 and Union Champion 1951,53, 54.57,58, 59 and 61. This was first awarded in 1967 to the leading Amateur in the Open Championship.
The Past Presidents’ Trophy(Senior Championship)
This trophy was donated by the generosity of the Past Presidents of the Union in 1992 and is presented to the Senior (55 years or over) Champion.
The A. B. Care Trophy(Club Team Championship)
This was donated in 1958 by A. B. Care (Beverley & E.R. Golf Club) President of the Union in that year.
The Boys’ Challenge Cup(Boys under 18 Championship)
This trophy was presented by T. R. Leak (Hull Golf Club) and first played for in 1948. T. R. Leak was the first President of the Union(1947-51).
T. R. Leak Trophy(Junior Team Championship)
Originally this trophy, presented by T. R. Leak, founding President of the Union, was to be played for by the Professional Golfers of the Union Clubs hut after this event was discontinued in 1978 the trophy was reallocated to the Junior Team event in 1979.
