Success for three East Riding Union Past Presidents

John Robinson (ERU President in 1988), playing off a handicap of 8, won the Yorkshire Inter-District Past Presidents' Day at Forest Park GC by 9 points. As he remarked in his presentation speech, the aggregate score of his three playing partners barely exceeded his score of 44 points, which was equivalent to playing the course in level par. Second and third prizes were won by Past Presidents from the York and Harrogate Unions, both with scores of 35 points.

Thanks to John's exceptional score, the East Riding Union also collected the team prize awarded to the Union with the highest aggregate total of their best three scores. Contributing to the winning score were Howard Palmer (2016) and John Deeming (2001), both scoring 31 points. East Riding has now won the team prize in the last three years.

Regrettably, our President, Andy Woodhead, along with six others, was disqualified for playing the holes in the wrong order. The tee adjacent to the 4th green is for the 11th hole and they failed to see the sign directing them to the 5th tee. One doubts that Andy will make that mistake next year!"
