With magnificent rounds of 67 & 65 Michael Helyard won the East Riding Union Open Championship by 5 shots.
Out in the 4th group of the day Michael set an early target of 67 (435333435=33 454444333=34) to lead the morning scores from Jon Samuel (Hull) 69, David Woodhead (Hessle) 69, Rich Norton (Beverley & ER) 70, Gary Brown (Ganton) 70, Harry Woolfall (Hessle) 71, Andy Allcock (Scarborough North Cliff) 71, Luke Bell (Hessle) 71 and Andy Woodhead (Brough) 71.
In the afternoon Michael quickly dominated the tournament with a fine 65 (454243334=32 334446333=33) to total 132 (6 under par). Jon Samuel came second with 69+68=137. Gary Brown and David Woodhead tied third on 138. Harry Woolfall was fifth on 139 and Rich Norton was sixth on 141.
